AUSTRALIAN AND SRI LANKAN TEST TEAMS AND SPIN WIZARDS WARNE AND MURALI DONATE AUTOGRAPHED BATS TO RAISE MONEY FOR THE BLIND
Colombo, Sri Lanka, Sunday 28th March.
On the 4th day of the third test match of the tour by Australia in
March 2004, a very special presentation took place.
Two cricket bats, containing the valuable signatures of all members
of the Australian and Sri Lankan teams, were presented to Mr. Navaratne
Banda, President of the SLFVH.
Significantly, the autographs include the prized signatures of Australian
Spin King Shane Warne, and Sri Lanka’s Spin Wizard Muttaiah
Muralitharan (Murali).
As any cricket enthusiast will know, both Shane and
Murali overlook the milestone of 500 test wickets during the tour.
Both are chasing the world record of 519 scalps held by West Indian
Courtney Walsh.
Having Warne’s and Murali’s signatures,
from the very tour on which both passed the 500 wicket mark, make
the bats unique, and either will be a glittering addition to any collection
of cricket memorabilia.
One bat will soon be auctioned online on a site such
as e-Bay to raise funds for the SLFVH. Auction dates will be published
on this website shortly.
Please re-visit this website or send us an email to info@slfvh.org
to be notified about the auction dates.
You can also make a donation for the visually handicapped through
